The walk started and ended at Broadway Bread Company. We already had breakfast at home, so we figured we'd be hungry at the end of our walk and could eat lunch then.
We first walked over to Edwyn J. Gorrell Memorial Park for a 1/2 mile out-and-back trail.
You are here...The farthest point of the trail in the park. |
We took the gravel trail to the left. |
From the park, we walked along De Zavala Road past a high school, elementary school and some churches. Then we did loops in four neighborhoods before heading back to Broadway Daily Bread.
These homes didn't have a whole lot of "personality" in their outdoor decor. The yards looked rather sterile.
Have you ever seen a church so big it has it's own overpass over a busy road? This church is huge. Not only that but their sign says, "Helping people look to Jesus and look like Jesus." Bob and I were scratching our heads over that one. Does anyone REALLY know what Jesus looked like?
The neighborhood below didn't look very friendly. I should have taken a photo of houses that looked like there should have been windows on the fronts, but the window areas were completely tiled in. I don't know if that was a specific design just for this neighborhood, or what. The homes looked odd.
Lunch was excellent at Broadway daily bread and the decor was bright and cheery.
"Does anybody really know what time it is?" |

My garden salad with turkey and a slice of fresh-baked bird-seed bread. |
From our walk, Bob was scheduled for an hour class to learn how to use his work iPhone. Off we went to The Shops at La Cantera. While he took his class, I wandered the mall, took photos, talked to my mom and sister on the phone and shopped. I think I had more fun!
Just across the path from the iPhone store, a Microsoft store is going in! |
Covered area with lovely outdoor furniture for taking a break from shopping. |

This place knows what time it is all over the world. |
At 7:00 p.m. our RV resort showed a movie in the Rec Hall called "American Outlaws." It was about the end of the Civil War and the James-Younger gang. The start of outlaw Jessie James. We enjoyed it. The RV park has a popcorn machine and provided water and iced tea. There were also a few other snack-y items: trail mix, chex mix and an M&M mix with almonds, dried cranberries, and white chocolate chips. About 20 people showed up to see the movie. Everyone seemed to enjoy it and clapped at the end.
Some of you wanted to see a picture of the outdoor cat enclosure our next door neighbors had. Here are a couple of pics with their tortoiseshells. I don't know what this enclosure is called or where to buy it. They said it cost $100.00. This enclosure has two side doors that unzip and the top unzips. The whole thing folds down to fit in a flat box.
The second photo above is the view from our kitchen window, which is where my two boy cats sat and lusted the whole time these girls were out there.
Speaking of our kitties, here are a couple of photos of them.

Mr. Paper Shredder himself--caught in the act! |
And that is that for tonight.
Stay tuned tomorrow for our San Antonio Historic Churches Volksmarch in downtown. We should have some good photos for you!
