Haga Park

Today the swedish Royal Court announced that Crown Princess Victoria and her future husband will live at Haga Palace in the future. A date for the move is not known yet. Haga Palace was also the Residence of her grandparents Prine Gustaf Adolf and Princess Sibylla, née Princess of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha. King Carl XVI,. Gustaf and his four older sister where all born there and the King spend his early childhood there but after his father died in a plance crash in early 1947 his mother moved with the children to the Royal palace in Stockholm. Since 1966 it was used by the swedish State to accomodate Guests.

On the Royal Burial Ground was first buired in 1920 Crown Princess Margaretthe first wife of the future King Gustaf VI. Adolf. Since then more members of the Royal Family have been buried there among them King Gustaf VI. Adolf and Queen Louise, Prine Gustaf Adolf andPrincess Sibylla, Prince Carl and Princess Ingeborg and in 1997 Prince Bertil.

Kirchheim Castle

Some time ago i visited Kirchheim Castle in Swabia which belongs today to Fürstin Angela Fugger of Glött, widow of the last Fürst Joseph Ernst who died in 1981.
In 1551 Anton Fugger bought the property Kirchheim. After the Fugger-Estate was parted it went to Hans Fugger. In the years 1578-1585 the Castle of Kirchheim was build as summer residence for the Family. After it was ready it looked like the Escorial near Madrid. In the years 1580-1583 the Castle Chruch was build who is also the parish Church of Kirchheim. In the year 1585 the Zedern hall was constructed. it can today be visitied and there are often classical Concerts who take place in it. In 1878 the Castle was inherited by the Count Fugger of Glött (since 1913 Fürsten Fugger von Glött) whose main residence it is since 1886. In 1981 the last male member of the Family Fürst Joseph Ernst died and the Castle is now in the posession of his Widow, Fürstin Angela.

Mausoleum Bückeburg

In June 2007 i spend a few days in Bückeburg on the occasion of the Wedding of HSH Fürst Alexander zu Schauburg-Lippe and Dr. Nadja Anna Zsoeks. During this time i also visited the Mausoleum in the Park of the Castle.
The Mausouleum was built from 1911 - 1915 during the reign of Fürst Adolf the last regning Fürst zu Schaumburg-Lippe and is the resting place of the members of the Princely FAmily. Some Family members are buried in a new Burial Ground near the Museum whichi and my friends got permisson to go into.

Royal Engagement in Sweden

Toady at 14h00 CET HM King Carl XVI. Gustaf officially announced the engament of HRH Crown Princess Victoria to Daniel Westling. The Wedding will take place in early Summer 2010.

Altshausen Castle

3 Years ago after the Wedding of Duke Michael and Julia Storz which took place at Friedrichshafen i and some friends made also an Visit at Altshausen Castle the Residence of TRH Duke Carl and Duchess Diane of Württemberg.
The Castle is only since 200 years in the posession of the Family of Württemberg. Originally there was an old Castle which belonged to the Counts of Altshausen, but the moved to Veringen and took the Title Count of Veringen. In 1264 it became in the posession of the German Order. During a big fire in 1434 most of the Old Castle was destroyed. Soon there was a new Castle build and in the 17. Century Johann Caspar Bagnato had to plan a big Baroque Residence. But only a few of his planes where practiced. After the German order was dissolved i 1806 the Castle and Park came in the posession of the Royal Family of Württemberg. After the monarchy was abolished in 1918 HRH Duke Albrecht of Württemberg moved to Altshausen in 1919 and inherited it in 1921 after the death of HM King Wilhelm II. It has became the tradition that Altshausen is the Residence of the Head of the Royal House and the oldest son and Heir lives at Friedrichshafen Castle.
