† Fürstin Sylvia zu Bentheim and Steinfurt

Fürstin Sylvia zu Bentheim and Steinfurt died at the age of 83 in the night to Saturday 16. November 2013. Since over 60 years she was married to Fürst Christian zu Bentheim and Steinfurt. Three years ago the couple celebrated their Diamond Wedding
On 16 May 1930 she was born as Countes Sylvia of Pückler, Baroness of Groditz at  Burkersdorf in Silesia . The family lived at Gröditzberg Castle  . When World War II began , the father was transferred to Berlin. The family moved to a city apartment. When was the Berlin house destroyed by bombs in 1943 , they went back to the Silesian homeland. And here the in the beginning of 1945 , Russian troops were advancing , the family fled with their four children . Only about one escaped during the train journey to the bombing of Dresden .The Pücklers came under at Arolsen Castle by distant relatives of Fürst Christian's grandmother  After finishing school Countess Sylvia traveled to Sweden with two aunts . She then worked for one year as an au pair girl in an English household . On the way back they stopped off in Steinfurt . Her future husband has picked them up at the train station in Rheine . That was 1949.In August 1950, a fairytale wedding was celebrated on the Steinfurter castle . Their apartment got the young couple on the first Bentheim Castle . Only in 1961 , after the death of Fürst Victor Adolf , the  moved to Burgsteinfurt. With the education of her two adopted daughters , Caroline and Alexa as well as the ceremonial duties of the everyday life of the Fürstin was completed . Sporty woman as she also loved a long time to ride , the sport of tennis and skiing in winter .The funeral service for Fürstin Sylvia zu Bentheim and Steinfurt will  take place on Tuesday 26 November 2013 at 11h00 clock in the Great Church. Afterwards the burial in the family cemetery in Bagno .

Two deaths in the House of Waldburg zu Wolfegg and Waldsee

Recently 2 members of the Princely House of Waldburg zu Wolfegg and Waldsee have passed away. On 08. November Count Hubertus died at the age of 56. He was born in 1956 as son of Count Heinrich and his wife Maria Antonia, née Princess of Hohenzollern. Count Hubert was unmarried.
And on 14. November Count _Gebhard passed away after a short illness at a Hospital in Munich. hew was born in 1927 as one of the sons of Fürst Freanz Ludwig of Waldburg zu Wolfegg and Waldsee and his wife Adelheid, née Countess of Schönburg-Glauchau. In 1968 he married Birgit Riedesel, Baroness of Eisenbach. Together the had 2 children. Caroline who was first married to Fürswt Philipp zu Stoblerg-Wernigerode and is now married in second with Baron Constantin of Dalwigk zu Lichtenfels and Count Mortiz who is married to Isbabel, nee Baroness of Herman.
Because of his  broad commitment Count Gebhard was deeply rooted in the social life of Bad Waldsee - he carries the title of honor among other guild master of Narrenzunft Waldsee, which was in his heart for a lifetime. He was also honorary chairman of the ADAC Württemberg.

Funeral of Landgrave Moritz of Hesse

On Monday 03.06.2013 at 12h00 local time the funeral Service for the late Landgrave Moritz of Hesse took place at the Johannes church at Kronberg. Early in the morning i had meet with a friedn and together we drove to Kronmberg. Unfortunately due to a heavy accident the highway was completely blocked and we haid to wait for about 45 mins befroe we could drive further. Due to this we arrived at Kronberg only areound 1 hour before the Service was to start. Butas there where not to many people there we could still geta good spot opposide the church where also meet another woman we have often meet at Royal Events. Some of the guests arrived on feet among them the Fürst and Fürstin zu Sayn-Wittgenstein-Sayn or Fürst Alexander zu Schaumburg-Lippe. But then big busses arrived with guests who stopped direct before the church so we could not see the people inside. In one of them we could see Queen Sofia of Spain and her brother King Constantine II. of Greece seating in the front.  The Service was held by the the deputy President of the Evanglical church in Hesse and Hassau (EKHN) Ulrike Scherf. The Service was broadcasted over speakers outside so the Public could follow it. Some people outside where leaving during the Serive so we looked for a better place just opposide the entrance door to the Church. After the Service had ended the coffin was in a proccesion carried to the old Castle Kronberg followed by all the Guest on feet. . We then had a look in the church but as there where many people inside we decied to first to go to the Castle and come back later.  Just as we arrived at the Castle we could see the new Landgrave Donatus and his wife Floria and their children leaving, followed by his mother Princess Tatiana with her daughter Princess Mafalda and then Prince Philipp with his wife Laetizia and son Tito. Then in an almost endless procession all the guests left the Castle and walked to the Castle Hotel Friedrichshof. After all of them had left the public was allowed into the Castle area where the coffin with the deceased was standing before the Castle Chapel.

† Landgrave Moritz of Hesse

Landgrave Moritz of Hesse died on the afternoon of Thursday 23.05.2013 at the age of 86 after a longer illness of the throat. 
He was the head of the House of Hesse and an internationally respected businessman with the best contacts for European nobility. Now Landgrave Moritz of Hesse has succumbed to a serious illness.
Dr. Mark Miller, director of the Hessian House Foundation, our confirmed rumors  the death. The Landgrave was suffering from a lung disease for some time. "It's terrible. He was a great boss, "Miller said in a shaky voice. The news of the death came as no surprise. "We know  that it was in very bad health ," Miller said. For health reasons, the Landgrave last week did not attend the garden party at the huntiong Castle Fulda for which he is patron. Later, his condition deteriorated further.
Moritz Friedrich Karl Emmanuel Humbert, Prince of Hesse was born in 1926 in Racconigi castle in Piedmont. He succeeded his father, Philip of Hesse in 1980 as the "Head" of the House of Hesse (Main line Hessen-Cassel) and gradually united the house as Heir of his adoptive father, Ludwig of Hesse any by Rhine with the second main line (Hesse-Darmstadt). As head of the House of Hesse, he joined using on the traditional title "Landgraf".
He was the eldest son of Landgrave Philip of Hesse and Princess Mafalda of Savoy, daughter of King Vitorio Emmanuele III. of Italy, great-grandson of Emperor Friedrich III. and great-great-grandson of Queen Victoria. He came from the Hessen-Rumpenheim-line that goes back directly to a main line of the House of Hesse-Cassel. In 1960 Moritz wasadopted and became heir of Prince Ludwig of Hesse and by Rhine, the childless head of the other main line of the House of Hesse-Darmstadt Due to the inheritance since  the two since 1567 separated main lines were combined in his person again.Referred to in his youth as Maurizio d'Assia,  Moritz of Hesse spent his early years in Rome and in Cassel. After the death of his mother in 1944 in the Buchenwald concentration camp, he grew up on in Kronberg im Taunus. After serving in the military service, he studied agriculture. He managed the Panker in Schleswig-Holstein. He brought a considerable portion of the family assets of both houses in the Hessian House Foundation and served as chairman of the foundation managing the historic cultural property. Obtained with Napoleon's defeat in the House of Hesse-Kassel pheasant hunting lodge (Adolphseck) at Fulda many valuable exhibits from numerous other castles of the family were collected and exhibited after the Second World War. Also have the 5-star hotels Hessischer Hof in Frankfurt and the Schlosshotel Kronberg, the winery Prince of Hesse in Geisenheim / Rheingau and the castle and stud Panker of Holstein Switzerland asset of the Foundation. Moritz of Hesse was seen as an important patron of the arts in Hesse and this was in 1999 with the highest honors of the state of Hesse, Georg-August-tin medal awarded. He was also active for the Institute for New Technical form in Darmstadt and promotes the Kronberg Academy

† Fürstin Benita zu Schaumburg-Lippe


Fürstin Benita zu Schaumburg-Lippe passed away in the night to Wednesday 08.05.2013 after an long illness at the age of 85. She was born in 1927 as Baroness Benita of Tiele-Winckler at Waren in Mecklenbzurg, After the End of the Second Worl War on the request of her parents she went into the West. Later she tudied biologym, the studiys she financed on her own.  At the end ofthe studies  a doctorate was awarded with the "summa cum laude". In 1955 she married the then Hereditary Prince Philipp-Ernst zu Schaumburg-Lippe who succeeded his father as Fürst in 1952. The couple had 2 sons, Hereditary Prince Georg-Wilhelm who died after an traffic accident in 1983 and Alexander who succeeded his father as Fürst. Fürst Philipp-Erst died in 2003 after an long illness. In early 2007 Fürstin Benita had an bad traffic accident from which she never recovered full. Since then she was rarely seen in public

† Princess Editha of Bavaria

 
According to Royal Musings Princess Editha ob Bavaria passed away on Saturday 04.05.2013 at the age of 88. She was born on 126.09.1924 at Hohenburg as second daughter and thrid child of the last bavarian Crown Prince Rupprecht and his second wife Antonia, née Princess of Luxembourg. In 1946 she married Tito Brunetti by whom she had 3 daughters. After his death in 1954 she married in 1959 Gustav Schimert who passed away in 1990. From her second marriage she had 3 sons.

Princess Margarita of Baden buried

Princess Margarita of Baden was today buried at the Family burial ground at Salem Stefansfeld where also her parents and grandparents are buried. Among the guests where Duke Friedrich and Duke Ferdinand of Württemberg, Prince Rainer of Hesse, Prince Albrecht of Hohenzollern and Pricne Andreas and Princess Luise zu Hohenlohe-Langenburg. First there was an orthodox Service at Salem Castle. For it the rusiaan-orthodox Archbishop Mark had come from Berlin and a choir of orthodox nuns from Munich. Afterwards there was a procession from the Castle to the closeby burial ground where the actual funeral toke place. Already on 24. January there was an orthodox Service at the St. Sava Church in London. Guests at this Service included Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, Queen Anne-Marie of the Hellenes, Crown Prince Alexander and Crown Princess Catherine of Yugoslavia.

† Count Albert of Rechberg

Only a few weeks ago at the End of November he celebrated his 100th birthday, and now last Thursday (17.01.2013) Count Albert of Rechberg has passed away. The Head of the House of Rechberg lived out of the spotlight in his hometown Donzdorf. According to Martin Stölze, the Mayor of Donzodrf "He weas a man who lived very reserved and was very low key about his person". Stölzle also metions the passsage of time through which the Count from an ancient nioble Family has lived "He was born as a Count during the Monarchy and later found his palce in live in a secular society, which i always found quiet remarkable. When one spoke with him it was always clear he went through all the social changes during the last Century".
Count Albert sold in 1987 the Castle in Donzdorf to the city Donzdorf where it now serves as Townhall. Already during the 1970's the Family has sold the Castles and ruins Scharfenschloss  Weißenstein, Ramsberg und Rechberg to private persons. In 1986 he gave overt the adiminstration of the family posession to his son Bernhard who succeeds him as head of the Countly Family.
Despite all seclusuion he was also engaged in his hometown, so Albert Count of Rechberg was an honorary member of the Shooting Society Donzdorf whose club flag adorns the coat of arms of the von Rechenberg and Roth lions.
The history of the family from Donzdorf can be traced back to the year 1179, then I. Ulrich von Rechenberg was as Marshal of the Duchy of Swabia in the service of Emperor Friedrich I. Barbarossa. Since 1607 the family belong to the German nobility. In that  year, the family was raised by Emperor Rudolf II.  into the rank of Counts.

† Princess Margarita of Baden

Princess Margarita of Baden passed away on the evening of 15. January 2013 at her home after a long illnes. She was born on 14. July 1932 at Salem Castle as the oldest child of Margrave Berthold of Baden and his wife Theodroa, née Princess of Greece and Denmark. Her unle is Prince Philip of Great Britain, Duke of Edinburgh.
Since the 1950 she lived in the United Kingdom where she also meet her future husband Prince Tomislav of Yugoslavia, the second son of King Alexander I. The couple married on 05. June 1957 at Salem Castle. The couple had 2 children, Prince Nicolas and Princess Katharina. They where divorced in 1982. After the divorce the Princess took her maiden name. She workef for years at hospitals in London.
The funeral Service for the late Princess will take place in the next days at the serbian-orthodox St. Sava Church in London. Later the Princess will be buried at Salem. This will take place in the closest Family circle.

† Prince Albert of Saxony

Prince Albert of Saxony, one of the grandson of the last saxon Kig Fredrich August III.has died  According to the Family he died peacefully on the evening of Satruday 06.10.2012 in a hospital at Munich. Only in July his brother Maria Emanuel Margrave of Meissen, for long years the head of the Family had died in Switzerland. Prince Albert then cleamed the headship of the Royal House despite the fact that in a Family agreement in 1997 he agreed that their nephew prince Alexander of Saxe-Gessaphe should succeed Margrave Maria Emanuel.

† Margrave Maria Emanuel of Meissen

Margrave Maria Emanuel of Meissen, the Head of the Royal House of Saxony passed away on Monday 24.07.2012 in his home at la Tour de  Peilz near Vevey. He was born in 1926 as oldest son of Margrave Friedrich Chirstian of Meissen and his wife Elisabeth Helene, née Princess of Thurn and Taxis and was a grandson of the last reigning King of Saxony Friedrich August III. In 1968 he succeeded his father as head of the Royal House. In 1962 he married Princess Anastasia Luise of Anhalt but their marriage remaind childless. As also his younger brother Prince Albert who married morgantic has no descendats ther was the Question of the future sucession. In the 1990's at a Family meeting all male dynastic members agreed that the succession should pas to Pince Alexander of Saxe-Gessaphe a nephew of the Margrave (son of his sister Princess Maria Anna) who was adopted by the Margrave. Later Prince Albert changed his mind
So no both Prince Alexander who is married to Princess Gisela of Bavaria and has 3 sons, and Prince Albert claim the Headship of the Royal House.

† Fürst Heinrich IV. Reuß

Fürst Heinirch IV. Reuß died on 20.05.2012 at his home Ernstbrunn at the age of 92 yeats. he was sourronded by his children and grandchildren. Since 1945 he was the head of the Princely Family Reuß wo until 1918 reigned in todays Thuringia. This line of the Family had her seat at bad Köstrtz and the Summer Residence was Ernstbrunn Castle nr Vienna wo after 1945 became the Main Residence. After 1990 the Family came back to their former posessions and some of them ehere also returned because the Prince has trhe austrian nationality and not the german 8as he was born in Ernstbrunn).
In 1954 Fürst Heinrich IV. married Princess Mrie Luise zu Salm-Horstmar wo survies him. Together they had 4 chidren: Heinrich XIV. wo succeeds him as the head of the Family, Johanetta, Caroline and Esperance.
His funeral will take place on Sautrday 30.06.2012 at Ernstbrunn where he will be buried in the Park of the Castle.

† Hereditary Grand Duchess Karin of Mecklenburg-Schwerin

Hereditary Grand Duchess Karin of Mecklenburg-Schwerin passed away on 26.01.2012 at Glücksburg. She was born in 1920 as Karin von Schaper and married in 1941 Herediatary Grand Duke Friedrich Franz of Mecklenburg-Schwerin, the oldest son of the last Grand Duke Friedrich Franz IV. The couple divorced in 1967 and remarried 10 years later in 1977. Her husband died in 2001 when the House of Mecklenburg bacame extinct in the male line as the Couple had no children.

† Countess Agathe zu Ortenburg

Countess Agathe zu Ortenburg, née Countess of Schaeberg passed away on Coburg on 20.12.2011. She was born on 14.03.1925 as youngest daugher of Count Joseph of Schaeberg and his wife Ghislaine, née Comtesse de Berlaymont. On 21.10.1954 she married count Alram zu Ortenburg, who died in 2007. Together the couple had 4 children.

† Prince Rasso of Bavaria

  

Prince Rasso of Bavaria passed way at his home at Tutzing near Lake Starberg on 12.09.2011 at the age of 85.  He was born in 1926 as youngest child of Prince Franz of Bavaria and his wife Isabella, nee Princess of Croy and a grandson of the last bavarian King Ludwig III. In the late 1930's his parents and Family lived in Hungary and only returned to Germany after 1945. In 1955 Prince Rasso married Archduchess Therese of Austria, Princess of Tuscany and had 7 children with her. 
In his private life he breeded dachshunds.

Princess Katrin of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha, née Bremme died on 13. July 2011 at Grein after  long illness. She was the Widow of the late Prince Friedrich Josias of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha and stepmother of the present Head of the House Prince Andreas.

† Archduke Otto of Austria

Archduke Otto of Austria, foerm CrownPrince of Austria.Hungary passed away at the age of 98 in the morning of  Monday 05. July 2011 in his home Villa Austria at Pöcking. all his 7 children whee at his side. 
He was born as Archduke Franz Joseph Otto, eldest son of Archduke Karl and his wife Zita, née Princess of Bourbon of Param, on 20.11.1912 at Villa Wartholz nr Reichenau.  When he as 2 years old his great-uncle Archduke Franz Ferdinand was murdered at Sarajevo and his fathe became the new heir. Only 2 years later in November1916 his father became Emperor of Austria, after the death of Emperor Franz Joseph I. In 1918 after the end of the First Wolrd War his father had to rennouce and later to leave the Country. He died on 01.04.1922 at Funchal, Madeiara and otto became the new head of the House. 
In 1951 he married Princess Regina of Saxe-Meiningen and had 7 children with her. In 1961 Ottorenounced his rights to be ableto enter Austria again. In 2007 renounced his position as Head of the Imperial House in favour of his oldest son Karl.
In honor of the late Archduek there will be several Reqiums.
From 05.07. - 08.07.2011his coffin will be on dsplay at the Church st. Ulrich at Pöcking
On 09.07.2011 at the Church St.Anton at Pöcking
on 11.07.2011 at the Theatinerchurch at Munich, afterwards there will by a farewell by the Schützenjäger at the St. Odeons Place in Munich
on 12.07.2011his coffin will be reunited with the coffin of his late wife Archduchess Regina (who passed away in Fevruary 2010 and was tremporäry buried at Veste Heldburg) and both coffins will be on display at Basilica at Mariazell
on 13.07.2011 there will be a Reqiuem at the Basilica at Mariazell
on 16.07.2011 there will be the official Reqiuem at the Stephans Dom at Vienna, with afterwars a funeral procession through the inner City to the Crypt of the Capuines where the funeral will take place
on 17.07.2011 the heart of hte late Archduke will be buried at Pannholama, Hungary

† Duke Carl of Croy

Carl, 14. Duke of Croy passed away on Tuesday 14, June at the age of 96. He was born on 11.08.1914 in Düsseldorf  as oldest son of Carl Rduolf, 13. Duke of Croy and his first wife the american Nancy Leishman. He spend his early childhood during the german Empire and later in the Republic of Weimar. He later also served as Soldier in the second World War and later studierd Jura in Switzerland. 
On 18.06.1953 he married at Nymphenburg Castle Princess Gabriele of Bavaria, one of the daughters of Crown Prince Rupprecht of Bavaria and his second wife Antonia, née Princess of Luxemburg. Together they moved into House Merfeld near Dülmen where the Duke lived until his death. Together the had 3 children among them the new Duke Rudolf who ws born in 1955.
The funeral of Duke Carl will take place on 22.06.2011.

† Princess Maria Elisabeth of Orleans and Bragança, née Princess of Bavaria

Princess Maria Elisabeth of Orleans and Bragança, née Princess of Bavaria passed away at her appartement at the Jardim Botânico at Rio de Janeiro. She was 96 years and 8 months old and the last member of the bavrian Royal Family born when Bavaria was still a Kingdom. She was born on 09.09.1914 at Nymphenburg Castle as daughter of Prince Franz of Bavaria and his wife Isabella, née Princess of Croy and was a granddaughter of the last King of Bavaria, Ludwig III. On 19.08.1937 she married at Nymphenburg Prince PedroHnerique of Orleans and Bragança, the head of Imperial Family of Brazil. The couple had together 12 children 8 sons and 4 daughter. Her husband died on 05.07.1981 and was succeeded as headof the Family be their oldest son Prince Luiz Gastão.

† Duchess Ilona zu Mecklenburg

HI & RH Duchess Ilona zu Mecklenburg, née Archduchess of Austria passed away in the morning of 12. Janaury 2010 at Bad Krouingen. She was born on 20.04.1927 as second daughter of Archduke Joseph Franz of Austria (from the hungarian line) and his wife Anna, née Princess of Saxony.  In 1045 she married at Sigmaringen Duke Georg Alexander of Mecklenburg, from the Strelitz line, who was the only son of Duke Georg. The marriage ended in divorce in 1974. The couple had four children: Duchess Elisabeth Crhstine (*1947), Duchess Maria katharine (*1949), Duchess Irene (*1054) and Duke Borwin (* 1956).
